Michael Garth Connors
November 6, 1959 – October 9, 2021
With great sorrow, the family announces the sudden and unexpected passing of Michael at the age of 61 at Horseshoe Lake Campground.
Left to grieve are Michael’s loving wife, Manon Tremblay; his 3 sons, Shawn, Nicholas (Myrissa), and Kevin (Holly); and his 2 grandchildren, Lilah and Jase. Michael leaves behind his mother, Jeannette; his siblings, Colleen, Cheryl Lisk (Willy), Scott, and Terri Blakely (Tyler). His mother-in-law, Alice Tremblay; in-laws Lise, Michel (Rena), Claude (Doris), Remi (Joanne), Alain (Carolyn), and Nathalie Dumoulin (Armand). He also leaves behind numerous nieces, nephews, great-nieces, great-nephews, and friends. Predeceased by his father, Michael; father-in-law, Raymond Tremblay; niece April, nephew Mathieu, and great-nephew Austin.
Most famous for his Polar Bear Riders song, Mike loved to play music and sing, entertaining the family, friends, and the neighbours at many gatherings throughout the year. Mike was a wonderful handyman, a jack-of-all-trades, and was always willing to lend a hand and his expertise to any project. Mike enjoyed fishing with his boys, taking his grandchildren for 4-wheeler rides, and just being out at the camp surrounded by nature. He was happiest when the family was all together, and even more so when it was at Horseshoe Lake.
The family would like to thank the Cochrane EMS Services for their quick response to the scene. Special thanks to Dr Eric Bilodeau, Shavone Wesley, and Nicole Denault. Mike worked for Cochrane Public School and Cochrane High School for 28 years and was known well by all the students and staff. The family appreciates the lowering of the school flag in respect of Mike’s passing.
